Segue válido até as 18h desta terça-feira (30/12) um alerta de "grande perigo" do Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (Inmet) para a onda de calor que tem atingido especialmente o centro-sul do Brasil.

O alerta - em vigor para áreas de Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro e Espírito Santo - significa que os termômetros podem marcar 5ºC acima da média para dezembro durante cinco dias ou mais nessas regiões.

A onda de calor começou no dia 22 de dezembro diante da combinação de fatores atmosféricos típicos do verão, mas intensificada neste fim de mês.

O fenômeno é classificado assim pelos meteorologistas quando as temperaturas ficam significativamente acima da média por vários dias consecutivos.

O que chama atenção neste episódio não é apenas o calor pontual de uma tarde específica, mas a sua continuidade.

Diferentemente de picos isolados, comuns no verão, a atual configuração atmosférica favorece dias sucessivos de temperaturas altas, inclusive durante a noite e a madrugada, o que dificulta a recuperação do corpo humano e aumenta o desconforto térmico.

Segundo os dados consolidados do Inmet no domingo (28/12), das 10 cidades mais quentes do Brasil, quatro estão na faixa do alerta de "grande perigo" no Sudeste do Brasil. As outras seis são cidades do sertão do Nordeste, região tradicionalmente quente nessa época do ano.
