    When the covid-19 pandemic forced in-person classroom instruction to go virtual, students suddenly needed to have their own laptops or tablets in order to interact with teachers and complete assignments. In the United States (U.S.), federal pandemic funding was used to address the digital divide – the gap between students and families who had their own tablets, computers and high-speed internet, and those who did not.

    While most schools resumed in-person classes by 2021, many of them continued to rely heavily on online platforms and apps to help their students do their work. Today, however, more and more U.S. schools are trying to establish clearer expectations about when technology should be used, for what purpose and at what ages. Instead of treating screens as the default tool for instruction, some schools are directing teachers to use laptops only when the technology adds clear instructional value.

    In fact, the distinction between passive consumption and purposeful use is increasingly shaping school policy. Updated policies also reflect an emerging emphasis on age-appropriate screen use. For older students, technology may remain central to learning, particularly when students are using it to program, analyze data, model complex systems and critically evaluate information. Younger children, meanwhile, should have sufficient opportunities for play, conversation, movement and hands-on, “unplugged” learning, without screens.

    The issue is not whether students spend more or less time using technology. It is whether the time they spend with technology helps them build understanding, solve problems, think critically and make informed decisions. The technology itself is not what improves learning. What matters is how teachers use it to engage students in deeper thinking.

Why strength training advice for women is mostly wrong

    For years, women were told to train differently because of their hormones. New research suggests the fundamentals of building strength and muscle look remarkably similar across sexes.  

    For decades, women have been told they need special workout rules. Don’t lift too heavy. Train around your hormones. Change your workouts throughout the month. 

    The advice seemed logical. Men have substantially higher testosterone levels, a hormone that plays a major role in muscle growth. “Testosterone increases muscle mass in boys, and so you get an adult 20-year-old man and an adult 20-year-old woman, and there’s going to be differences in baseline muscle size and strength,” says Lauren Colenso-Semple, a researcher and science communicator specializing in female physiology and exercise. 

    ___(1)___ a growing body of research suggests those differences may matter less than many people assume once training begins. A 2025 meta-analysis published in PeerJ found that women have a similar capacity for muscle growth, known as hypertrophy, as men. While men typically start with more muscle mass, women make comparable relative gains in muscle mass through resistance training. 

    Once people start exercising, the sex differences disappear quite quickly: “When you think about lifting weights and the magnitude of muscle size and strength that you can gain in response to training, the trajectory is very, very similar in men and women,” says Semple, a researcher and science specializing in female physiology and exercise. 

    ___(2)___ hormones can influence how exercise feels from day to day, there is little evidence that most women need entirely different training programs to build muscle, strength, or fitness. That matters because resistance training remains one of the most powerful tools for improving cardiovascular health, preserving bone density, and supporting healthy aging.

Dayton Webber, 27, is accused of killing a man in the front seat of his car during an argument on Sunday in his hometown of La Plata, Md. – about 30 miles south of Washington, D.C. – according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. 

The sheriff’s office said in a press release that passengers in the backseat saw Webber shoot Bradrick Michael Wells, also 27, before he pulled over and asked them “to help pull the victim out of the car”. They refused and left, at which point Webber “fled with the victim still in the car.” All of the passengers knew each other, authorities said.

Bats are flying mammals. They are warm blooded creatures that hibernate in winter. Growing warmth from the sun _______ sleep in March or April. British bats are under threat and many species are now much less common than they used to be. Some species of British bat are very rare and a few species are close to extinction.  

Bats normally remain hidden during the day and their small, black droppings in your roof space often provide the only evidence of their presence. Mice droppings are hard but those of bats consist of insect skeletons and crumble to dust if rubbed between finger and thumb. All bat species and their roosts are protected by law because they are so vulnerable. British bats are quite harmless to humans and should not be disturbed.

A YouTuber has been banned for life from visiting all Six Flags parks after posting a viral video that appeared to show him eating chicken nuggets while riding one of the country’s most famous roller coasters. 

The video, uploaded in May by content creator Allen Ferrell, shows him attempting to eat McDonald’s chicken nuggets while riding Millennium Force at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.  

The stunt quickly gained attention online, generating hundreds of thousands of views and prompting a response from park officials.  

The company said food and other loose items are prohibited on rides because they can create safety hazards.  

“Safety is a cornerstone of our business, and we have zero tolerance for inappropriate and unsafe behavior,” a Six Flags spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
