Um estudo realizado pela Universidade de Limerick, na Irlanda, avaliou pessoas sedentárias que
passam longos períodos sentadas e o que aconteceria com a saúde delas se tivessem períodos de
atividade, como caminhadas. Segundo a pesquisa, os participantes eram adultos com mais de 18 anos de idade e passaram por uma avaliação da saúde cardiometabólica.
A diferença na saúde foi analisada entre pessoas que permaneceram sentadas continuamente durante o
