O texto abaixo deve ser lido com atenção, para responder a questão.
Quase todos os produtos que entraram e saíram do País neste ano, bem como suas matérias-primas, dependeram de uma logística complexa, baseada no comércio marítimo e fluvial. Tais produtos, essencialmente conduzidos por um ramo de atividade profissional conhecido como Marinha Mercante, encontram, nos mares e rios, uma via essencial de escoamento, importação e distribuição.
O Brasil é um País marítimo, detentor de uma área com mais de 5,7 milhões de km², a Amazônia Azul, por onde transita cerca de 95% do comércio exterior. Além disso, mais de 80% da população brasileira vive a menos de 200 quilômetros da costa, e mais de 20 milhões de empregos dependem direta ou indiretamente do mar.
O mar e as hidrovias interiores são, portanto, importantes cenários para o desenvolvimento das atividades econômicas que integram a cadeia logística do comércio nacional e internacional e, também, para aquelas que têm como base a exploração dos recursos naturais, a produção e a prestação de serviços nas Águas Jurisdicionais Brasileiras (AJB).
