Based on the text above, judge the following items.
This might look a bit tricky on the outside, but there is nothing to it. "Verify" means to probe something for its authenticity or to conduct scrutinising work, whereas "check" means to subject to some procedure with the end of ascertaining some quality according to some criteria. However, the phrasal verb "check over" or "to check up on" means exactly that: to investigate, scrutinise or inspect, which tallies squarely with the definition of "verify".
correct- Another arrant paraphrase of the original passage: they are responsible for the internal control of the organisation they work for and peruse the records for any discrepancies in them. according the text: Internal auditors verify the effectiveness of the organization’s internal controls

Questão comentada pelo Prof. Alexandre Hartmann
1. Trecho original:
(1.1) Internal auditors verify the effectiveness of their organization’s internal controls and
(1.2) check for mismanagement, waste, or fraud.
2. Afirmação da banca:
(2) Internal auditors check over the effectiveness of their organization’s internal control.
