According to the World Obesity Atlas 2025, the total number of adults living with obesity is expected to increase by more than 115% between 2010 and 2030, rising from 524 million to 1.13 billion.     It is in this context that the so-called “weight-loss pens” are gaining increasing traction. Initially developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, these drugs are also now among the main approved therapies for obesity treatment.
     GLP-1 agonists are medications that mimic the action of the body’s natural hormone called GLP-1 (glucagon‐like peptide‐1), which plays a role in blood sugar control. They bind to receptors on cells – like fitting into a “lock” – and activate these receptors to produce effects similar to those the hormone itself would cause. This is the case with semaglutide.
    Dual agonists work similarly but act on two different receptors simultaneously: in addition to GLP-1, they also act on GIP, an acronym for gastric inhibitory polypeptide. This is the case with tirzepatide, which acts on the brain and gastrointestinal tract to reduce appetite, increase satiety, and slow gastric emptying.
    Although effective for weight loss, the rapid weight reduction promoted by these medications is not limited to the loss of body fat. Part of the weight lost can also come from lean mass, which is composed of muscles, bones, and organs.

The University will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights. No government should dictate what universities can teach and which areas of inquiry they can pursue.
We do not take our moral duties lightly and we have taken many steps to address and fight antisemitism on campus. However, this will not be achieved by assertions of power, unmoored from the law, to dictate how we operate.

This paper emphasizes the masculinity strain experienced by Incels who attempt to perform hegemonic masculinity as part of the transition to adulthood but fall short because of their lack of sexual activity. This work proposes the creation and implementation of Incel-specific, online therapeutic interventions and continued research directly with the Incel community to uncover the complexities of Incel experiences.

Nearly a century ago, Edwin Hubble discovered that the universe is getting larger. Modern measurements of how fast it is expanding disagree, however, suggesting that our understanding of the laws of physics might be off. Everyone expected the sharp vision of the James Webb Space Telescope to bring the answer into focus. But a long-awaited analysis of the telescope’s observations released late Monday evening once again gleans conflicting expansion rates from different types of data, while homing in on possible sources of error at the heart of the conflict.

Two rival teams have led the effort to measure the cosmic expansion rate, which is known as the Hubble constant, or H0. One of these teams, led by Adam Riess of Johns Hopkins University, has consistently measured H0 to be about 8 percent higher than the theoretical prediction for how fast space should be expanding, based on the cosmos’s known ingredients and governing equations. This discrepancy, known as the Hubble tension, suggests that the theoretical model of the cosmos might be missing something—some extra ingredient or effect that speeds up cosmic expansion.

Riess and his team released their latest measurement of H0 based on Webb data this spring, getting a value that agrees with their earlier estimates.

But for years a rival team led by Wendy Freedman of the University of Chicago has urged caution, arguing that cleaner measurements were needed. Her team’s own measurements of H0 have invariably landed closer than Riess’ to the theoretical prediction, implying that the Hubble tension may not be real.

Since the Webb telescope started taking data in 2022, the astrophysics community has awaited Freedman’s multipronged analysis using the telescope’s observations of three types of stars. Now, the results are in: Two types of stars yield H0 estimates that align with the theoretical prediction, while the third—the same type of star Riess uses—matches his team’s higher H0 value.

Nearly a century ago, Edwin Hubble discovered that the universe is getting larger. Modern measurements of how fast it is expanding disagree, however, suggesting that our understanding of the laws of physics might be off. Everyone expected the sharp vision of the James Webb Space Telescope to bring the answer into focus. But a long-awaited analysis of the telescope’s observations released late Monday evening once again gleans conflicting expansion rates from different types of data, while homing in on possible sources of error at the heart of the conflict.

Two rival teams have led the effort to measure the cosmic expansion rate, which is known as the Hubble constant, or H0. One of these teams, led by Adam Riess of Johns Hopkins University, has consistently measured H0 to be about 8 percent higher than the theoretical prediction for how fast space should be expanding, based on the cosmos’s known ingredients and governing equations. This discrepancy, known as the Hubble tension, suggests that the theoretical model of the cosmos might be missing something—some extra ingredient or effect that speeds up cosmic expansion.

Riess and his team released their latest measurement of H0 based on Webb data this spring, getting a value that agrees with their earlier estimates.

But for years a rival team led by Wendy Freedman of the University of Chicago has urged caution, arguing that cleaner measurements were needed. Her team’s own measurements of H0 have invariably landed closer than Riess’ to the theoretical prediction, implying that the Hubble tension may not be real.

Since the Webb telescope started taking data in 2022, the astrophysics community has awaited Freedman’s multipronged analysis using the telescope’s observations of three types of stars. Now, the results are in: Two types of stars yield H0 estimates that align with the theoretical prediction, while the third—the same type of star Riess uses—matches his team’s higher H0 value.

1. Only keep things you really need on and near your desk.


Use a tray for any papers you have to read. Have a jar for pens and pencils and have a bin near your desk.


2. Don’t keep any drinks on your desk.


Go to the kitchen when you want to have a drink or, if you prefer, keep a drink on a small table near your desk.


3. Reduce the amount of paper that you use.


Try to keep as much information as possible in folders on your computer. Before printing a document, ask yourself, ‘do I really need to read this on paper?’


4. Scan your notes.


If you have a lot of paper (magazine articles, notes, worksheets, etc.), make digital versions of them.


5. Use your smartphone to take photos of things you need to remember.


For example, take photos of notes to yourself, the name and address of a place you need to visit or diagrams you need to study for school.


6. Get a noticeboard.


If you really do need to keep small bits of paper, use a noticeboard on the wall. Check it every day and throw old notes in the bin.


7. Clean your desk at the end of every day.


Choose a time to tidy your desk and do it! If you do it every day, it will only take five minutes and you can start each new day with a clean and tidy space.

It could have wrapped its body twice around Uncle Vernon‘s car and crushed the car into a trash can – but at the moment the largest snake in the place didn‘t look in the mood. In fact, the largest snake in the place was fast asleep.
